The National Eisteddfod is coming back to the county of Conwy in August! This is the first visit to the county area since 1995 when the Eisteddfod was held in Abergele. The event will run from the 2-10 August in Llanrwst.
With locations including, the Eisteddfod Maes which is going to be located around a mile south of Llanrwst town, on Plas Tirion and Cilcennus’ land. The Eisteddfod caravan park is being located between the Maes and the town on the western side and Maes B being located alongside Nebo Road to the southwest.
Following on from last year’s Cardiff Bay experimental festival, where the performances were held in alternative and different locations, organisers will once again be making the most of all the buildings on the Eisteddfod Maes this year in a bid to offer a varied and ambitious programme!
By providing a stage for new and experimental ideas the organisers are expanding their vision for an inclusive Eisteddfod. The introduction of a brand new stage for performances and shows that can be considered to be slightly ‘risque’ will open its doors at the Cabaret Club at 9pm every night with a mixture of theatrical and comedy shows.
People are welcome to stay and explore the Maes until late and this year marks more free events on offer than ever in the evening. The lineup for the open air stage has already been announced, and the Ty Gwerin also has a brilliant programme of evening gigs, which includes Colorama, Alun Tan Lan and Steve Eaves. Details for these are going to be announced in the next few weeks.
With several evening shows on offer, including comedy evenings and theatrical shows there’ll be something for everyone. With less than two months to go, the message from the organisers is clear – the Conwy County National Eisteddfod is going to be a week to remember – with a fantastic programme of activities and events which will appeal to people of all ages.
Tickets for the evening shows are currently on sale and there are still some early bird bargain tickets available until the end of June.
