We know you should appreciate your mum all year round, but it’s important to make this day special. We’ve put a list together of some of the best places to go this year for a lovely Sunday roast.

The Manor is the perfect setting for Mother’s Day. Situated within the grounds of Gorse Hill Lodge, the stunning renovated 19th Century manor house looks over the Conwy River and Valley – a view to impress. The interior lives up to this with its grand fireplaces and immaculate dining area.
The special Mother’s Day menu includes choices to start such as; salt and pepper calamari, goats’ cheese and sun blushed tomato bon bon, and chicken liver and brandy pate. The mains the options including; half roast chicken or sirloin welsh black beef roast dinner, slow braised shoulder of Conwy Valley Lamb or cranberry and shallot nut roast.
Desserts include chocolate fudge brownie, boozy raspberry Eton mess, and Belgian style waffle. Alternatively, you could opt for the Welsh cheese board which includes a selection of Snowdonia Cheese!

The Erskine Arms
The Erskine Arms is right within the castle walls of Conwy, just a two minute walk from the train station and High Street. The gastro pub can be described as warm and friendly, with a great atmosphere.
Their Sunday menu is a great selection of dishes from their normal menu, along with added tasty Sunday roasts. These include; roasted breast of chicken, slow roast loin of pork, and a vegetarian nut roast.
The food at the Erskine is locally sourced wherever possible, and is all prepared fresh in house by their experienced group of chefs.
The Castle View
The Castle View is a cosy family pub in Deganwy, Conwy. It gets its name from the view from the raised terrace – that looks out across the breathtaking views of Conwy Harbour and the famous Conwy Castle.
The Sunday menu at the Castle View is served between 7pm and 12pm, and is full of homemade favourites for everyone to enjoy. The starters include creamed garlic wild mushrooms, and a classic prawn cocktail. The mains include a tasty thyme roast chicken ang a sirloin of beef.
If you don’t quite fancy a roast, then their standard menu is still available to choose from – the leek and cheddar tart sounds like a great option for veggies!
The Pen-y-Bryn
The Pen-y-Bryn is located at the top of Colwyn Bay in Colwyn Heights hence the name meaning ‘Head of the Hill’. The warming pub has a busy but friendly atmosphere, with dark wood interiors and the walls covered in shelves of old books.
The menu at is mainly the best of British dishes, but complemented by some from more exotic places in the world. Their menu can change daily, but the up to date version is always displayed on their website.
The Sunday roasts typically include around 3 or 4 options from chicken, beef, pork or a mixed roast – a combination with all the trimmings!
The Cottage Loaf
The Cottage Loaf is a traditional country pub, hidden in the heart of Llandudno. You’ll find it down a backstreet in the centre, a secret haven.
The menu boasts delicious food from far and near. Locally sourced where possible, with some of the meat even coming from the butchers just next door. It features pub classics, and an ever changing list of tasty dishes the chefs create.
The Sunday menu is served alongside the standard menu, and includes some delicious sounding options. Roast shoulder of Welsh lamb, and roast pork belly with an apple and cider cream sauce just to name a few.
