It’s never too soon to start making plans for Christmas! With all the local lockdowns happening, we might as well start looking further ahead in the hopes restrictions will be lifted. While most may stick to their family homes this season, why not head to beautiful North Wales and creates some memories which make 2020 worthwhile? The Llyn Peninsula
The Llyn Peninsula is referred to as ‘Snowdon’s Arm’ as it sticks out the side of Snowdonia! The area is surrounded by water, there are so many beaches and bays, and coastal paths to wrap up warm and take a stroll along. Snowdonia will provide a beautiful backdrop for all your walks.
Conwy
Conwy is truly picturesque at Christmas time. Spend the festive period exploring the cobbled walls, castle walls and sandy beaches. Best of all, there are many pubs and restaurants conwy has in the area which could be serving up a delicious roast dinner. We can always hope that one of the incredible Christmas markets will be taking place this year too – where you can find lots of local produce and gifts.
Portmeirion
Portmeirion is a stunning tourist village in Gwynedd. It was designed and built by non-other than Sir Clough Williams Ellis in the early 20th century, copying the style of Italian villages. The riviera-inspired houses and ornamental gardens will make you feel like you are in a Christmas fairytale!
Llandudno
The Victorian town of Llandudno is a fantastic place to spend the festive period! Organise your trip to coincide with the Winterlight festival, where for a few magical evenings, the towns main street, Mostyn Street is lit up to celebrate the mythical monsters and Vikings which are an important part of the history here.
Whilst in Llandudno, the high street and retail park offers a great array of shops to get any last-minute present buying sorted.
Betws Y Coed
Betws y Coed is known as the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia’, as it lies just before the land begins to create the dramatic peaks. Staying here gives you the perfect opportunity to turn the festive season into a hiking season. Imagine reaching the summit of the highest mountain in England and Wales on Christmas day? The Llanberis path should still be a safe route up in the winter for all the family – just don’t forget the hat, scarf and gloves!
