A Veritable Winter Wonderland

We all know that North Wales is a wonderful place to visit thanks to its scenic vistas, stunning natural surroundings, rich culture and intriguing history. One would think that all this relies on good hot weather and sunshine to be enjoyable? Actually North Wales in wintertime takes on an entirely new appearance – the winter wonderland. Snow on the Crests of the Mountains

The mountains of snowdonia come winter usually have a glorious white crest of snow, this helps define their peaks and while they are not so suitable for climbing to the very tops of (unless you are an experienced mountaineer with all the right gear) the mountains make for stupendous photography subjects or backgrounds.

Frozen Waterfalls

If you are very lucky this winter, you might just be fortunate enough to bare witness to the fabulousness of a frozen waterfall. Aber falls is known to freeze over when the weather gets very cold, and many people who are interested in the sport of ice climbing tackle this brilliant obstacle. For the rest of us, we like to take photographs and marvel at the scenery.

Winter Bird Watching

Winter chases the birds from the northern climbs southwards to a warmer environment. We are lucky enough to be considered such an environment. Bramblings, Fieldfares and Waxwings migrate to the UK in wintertime so it’s a great time to see them. Native british species birds include the likes of the Robin, which likes to breed in the winter time.

Winter Forests

In the wintertime, forest take on an entirely new aesthetic and character, yes all the leaves may have fallen from the trees, but the sheer beauty of a winter woodland is a fantastic place to see. When there is snowfall the welsh forests are transformed into a fantasy setting.

Cosy Evening Inside by the Fire

With a great wealth of fantastic establishments with a countryside setting, there are plenty of locations to have Cosy Evenings inside by the fire and a hot drink. Just choose one of the authentic pubs or hotels in the area and put your feet up with a hot drink and admire the wonderful views out the window.
