The small, yet busy seaside village of Aberdovey in Mid Wales is the perfect getaway spot for a long weekend of beautiful coastal walks, inviting pubs and wildlife watching. The ruins are perched on a dramatic rocky outcrop, in the shadow of the always impressive Cader Idris – it makes for a very romantic and peaceful picnic spot.
Cader Idris is also another one for the Mid Wales bucket list. Situated at the southern end of Snowdonia National Park, near the town of Dolgellau – it is the second most popular mountain in Wales, after the highest, Snowdon! Reaching the summit of this mountain will give you breathtaking panoramic views of the mountain range; there are several routes to the top but be aware of the low cloud so proceed with care.
Riding on the historic Talyllyn Railway is another fabulous way to see more of Mid Wales, set in the beautiful countryside, passing Dolgoch Falls along its beautiful mountain track. The Dolgoch Falls are an absolute must-see for visitors who like waterfalls; a beautiful place for walks and even a picnic pit-stop.
