The number of people viewing webcam feeds from some of North Wales’ most beautiful spots has been on the rise since the lockdown measures have been put in place. It seems people are missing the area and checking in online – with up to 500 people looking for the feeds per day.
Just before lockdown was ordered in the UK, there was a surge in visitors and tourists in North Wales. Many people had travelled here to escape the hustle and bustle, and the fear of catching Covid-19 in bigger towns and cities across the countries.
Unfortunately, having visitors in the area means that if they became ill and required hospital care, then there would be an extra strain on the services.
Locals also fear that people visiting the area will increase their risk of catching Covid-19. A lot of tourists were travelling to places with a relatively low population, but coming from somewhere highly populated and potentially a higher risk area.
An Alternative Way of Visiting
Thankfully, there is another way people can enjoy the beautiful scenery of North Wales. Whether you want to take a look at some of its stunning landscape or quaint villages, there is a webcam stream for you to check out.
One popular location for webcam images is, of course, the Snowdonia National Park. There are multiple webcams that boast incredible views, and are updated every 5 minutes. So, if you miss taking a walk, or relaxing in the mountains, you can get your fix.

One location is Llyn Ogwen, at the head of the Nant Ffrancon Valley, with the webcam courtesy of the Ogwen Mountain Rescue. This area is just up from Bethesda, and shows us the impressive Tryfan, Pen y Ole Wen, and parts of the Glyderau and Carneddau ranges.
On the Ogwen Mountain Rescue page, you can also take a look at another webcam showing us the view from the base in Bryn Poeth. This looks out East towards Capel Curig, and you can just about make out Moel Siabod in the background.
