11th August will bring the Flower and Vegetable show to the Wirral. Everyone in the Wirral can enter into the competition. Those from Little Sutton, Cheshire and Merseyside will be flocking to spectate this great show to bring the Wirral community together.
The Wirral Flower and Vegetable Show will take place in Birkenhead Park Visitor’s Centre. It is an annual event hosted by the local community using their own resources.
The show first began in 2006 and has been a huge success in previous years and attendance continues to grow every year. There were 300 entrants to the competition last year.
It is an amateur flower and vegetable show. It opens to the public from 12-4pm on Sunday 11th August but entrants are expected to set up the day before.
The show is great fun for all attending and taking part. Apart from the competitions and trophies themselves there are flower arranging displays and raffles to raise money for the community with great prizes to be won. Local crafts and charities are encouraged to attend and book stalls. There have been plenty of wonderful craft stalls in previous years selling lovely locally made jewellery among other items. The Plant sale attracts many keen gardeners.
For gardeners, nature lovers and those passionate about locally produced vegetables this is a great event and with all the stalls it makes a fantastic day out for the family. The most important aspect of this event is getting to know and support your local community in the Wirral.
It only takes 50p to enter the competition with your flower or vegetable specimen so why not give it a go. The show is for amateurs so do not be intimidated. This is a great opportunity to get into competitions if you are proud of your flowers and home grown vegetables.
