This September a charming event comes to Ruthin town. A fascinating, cheerful and family friendly promenade performance will take place in the house and gardens of the gorgeous Nantclwyd y Dre.

You can delve into history and be entertained by this performance which reveals the relationships between the people of the house and their neighbours who were the inhabitants of Ruthin Castle!

Ruthin Castle is not to be missed either. This dramatic castle lies on a red sandstone ridge above the Clwyd Valley and the red hues are still visible in the stone today. The history of the castle goes back for seven centuries and themed nights are still held here throughout the year.

The performance at Nantclwyd y Dre will help you discover more about the history of Ruthin town. This performance will be conveyed to the audience through a variety of artistic drama disciplines including story, music and song. The event is associated with Ruthin Craft Centre. Ruthin Craft Centre is a home of fantastic contemporary Welsh art galleries and craft workshops. Ruthin has so much to offer from its history and art.

The Nantclwyd y Dre House is a special and fun venue in Ruthin. It hosts events like the ‘Over the Castle’ performance and will take you on a journey through seven different ages of Wales. Different time periods are all represented in this house through the furnishings and styling of different rooms. The Hall is in the style of 1942, the rectory is 1916. There is a 1891 school room and the bedroom is a fabulous Chinese wall-papered Georgian style. There is also a Jacobean bedchamber and a 15th century business room.

If that is not enough you can watch horseshoe bats in the attic via ‘batcam’.

The ‘Over the Castle Wall’ performance will take place on the 21st and 22nd of September, the house is open from 11 until 4 and an adult ticket is £3.90.
