Ruthin town is looking forward to July with the return of Graig Aid for 2013!
Graig Aid takes place on Friday the 19th of July and Saturday the 20th of July in the pretty village of Graigfechan near Ruthin town.
For those who do not know, Graig Aid is a two day live music festival in Ruthin featuring 12 bands!
There are camping options, which many take advantage of and hot, delicious food served regularly.
Graig Aid emerged out of a quaint music night that first began in 2001 and it has now developed into this large, annual festival that every year earns money for local charities.
The Three Pigeons will be hosting the festival this year once again. This historical pub and restaurant is well known for its excellent beers and ales. Great food is available right next to the festival from this welcoming establishment. They serve four real ale casks. These are rotated regularly so there is always a new brew to sample. The Three Pigeons use local produce.
A sunny, warm summer is always hoped for but in the event of unwelcome rain this July the festival is prepared. This is an outdoor festival to make the most of the summer and true music festival atmosphere but there will be several covered areas with good views of the stage too.
The money from this festival goes to similar charities each year such as St Kentigern’s Hospice, Hope House, local schools and many more. Please keep in mind the important contribution you are making while enjoying the fantastic event.
On the Friday night (July 19th) an adult ticket will be £5 and children 12-16 years old will pay £2.50. If you are attending on the Saturday, an all day adult ticket will be £7.50 or £5 from 7:30pm onwards. A 12-16 year old day ticket will be £3.50 or £2.50 after 7:30pm. Camping is great fun and an option available if you want to experience the whole festival. Camping for adults is £5 per night and £2.50 for 12-16s. You must book in advance for camping and tickets can be purchased online. Children under 12 are completely free but must be accompanied by an adult.
The line up for Graig Fest 2013 will include Two Sums, playing rock covers from the 70s and 80s, Shambolics, Word for Word, Pressure Drop, The Alibis and many more bands including local bands. The festival also welcomes the North Wales dance group The Philosophy. They are an excellent dance group incorporating belly dance and gothic fashion in their performance.
