The Giant Spectacular Returns

For everyone in Merseyside and Wirral towns July 2014 is set to bring huge, unparalleled excitement as the Giant Spectacular returns to Liverpool City.

Massive crowds are predicted to flock back from surrounding areas as they did for the first monumental Giant

Spectacular event in 2012. On the 23rd-27th July 2014 the soulful giant puppets will return from Royal De Luxe. In 2012 a three day performance was hosted on the streets of Liverpool City marking the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The ‘Sea Odyssey’, featuring a 30 foot giant, little girl puppet, her dog and her 50 foot uncle, has been praised as one of Liverpool City’s most successful events attracting visitors from all over the region over the three days. An estimated 600,000 people came to view the event over the three days in Liverpool.

For 2014 the Giant’s second spectacular performance will be in collaboration with 14-18 NOW and the street performance is entitled Memories of August 1914 as this August 2014 marks the centenary of the start of the First World War.

This must see event was announced in January and will be the flagship event for a series of World War 1 commemorations. Until now the Royal De Luxe team had been keeping details of the performance well under wraps so with only a few weeks to go excitement has been boiling over for all the fans. Now we are starting to hear some of the plans for our giants. Most of the main walking around the city action will take place from the 25-27th but other commemorations will take place from the 23rd. The brand new giant that is being added to the celebration will be on display for a full 27 hours before she wakes up.

The Grandmother is the newest addition to the giant team of puppets and all the giants will cover 30 miles in total during their explorations.

This is set to be one of the biggest public events of 2014. The towns of Little Sutton and Ellesmere Port are only approximately 40 minutes by train to this event so put the date in your diaries.
