If you are a fitness fanatic, looking to push yourself to the next level, work on your endurance and take part in a fantastic physical challenge then the Force 10 is the event for you.
There are plenty of excellent outdoor events taking place in North East Wales this summer but Force 10 is by far one of the most challenging you will come across. This is not an event for beginners or the faint-hearted. Force 10 covers 10 miles and is the re creation of a military combat fitness test. Not only do you run 10 miles but you can have the option of doing it while carrying weight as a soldier would have to. You can compete in one of several categories depending on your strength level.
Clean fatigue is to do the run without carrying weight.
The loading bearing category means you do the 10 miles while an impressive carrying 35 lbs.
The Loadstone category is only for the toughest in the competition. You run the route while bearing 35 lbs and a cut off time will be set. You must finish in this time to progress to the next competition.
Over 50s can participate in clean fatigue category or load bearing but the weight is reduced to 25 lbs for load bearing.
The event is much more than just the endurance race itself: it is a full weekend including map reading theory and assignments and camping. First aid mountain training will be included in the activities as well as breakfast being provided. This is a great event for those who want to learn all the skills a combat fitness test would require.
Force 10 is part of a group of events from the SF experience. This began last year when a group of ex Special Forces soldiers organised the first endurance event.
Force 10 2014 will take place on Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June. A weekend participation is £75 while the 10 mile run alone is £45. There are group entry discounts available too. You can register now to take part is this fantastic fitness event that is on a league of its own.
The best part about this challenge is that it runs through the stunning Clwydian range of North East Wales. The mountains and hills are beautiful and easy to navigate. If you live near Denbighshire or Flintshire you will be in easy travelling distance of this event.
