Father’s Day will be celebrated in Ellesmere Port with 3 running events. 16th June 2013 brings us a 10k run and 1500 runners for ‘Sport in the Port’. Fancy dress is allowed and encouraged! Everybody is looking forward to seeing lots of super heroes running and promoting Father’s Day and exercise.
URENCO UK is sponsoring the event and hope it will get many local people more interested in running and sport.
There is also a 5k and a one mile run that is suitable for anyone to enter including walkers and pushchairs.
The 10k will begin in West Chester College and finishes on Civic Way. The one mile will start in Civic Way and finish at Civic Square. All three of the runs will take place on closed roads so it is safe exercise and fun for everyone.
The organisers of these runs also arrange Chester half marathon. All of the runs are on a nice flat and fast course. It will be a good run for beginners as well as experienced runners.
There will be ample parking at the Civic Centre so there is no excuse to not get involved and enjoy getting exercise this Father’s Day.
Anybody can support the ‘Sport in the Port’ day by running or if you don’t feel up to running you can help out with organisation or even just show your support by cheering on the runners.
All runners must register with ‘Sport in the Port’ before the races. There will be drink stands at the 3 mile mark on the 10k run and toilets stationed along the way. There will not be any timed running on the one mile run so everyone is free to go at their own pace.
Promote healthy exercise and Father’s Day this June by joining in with the ‘Sport in the Port’ running event in Ellesmere Port.
