The improved weather of spring has finally come and summer is not far away. With the summer months comes many exciting and entertaining outdoor events in Denbigh including the fantastic, annual Denbigh carnival!
Denbigh’s carnival is back by popular demand. The carnival was on hiatus for a few years but was resurrected last year due to local demand for this wonderful, cultural festival to return.
In 2014 the plans for the carnival aim to make it bigger and better than ever! The carnival includes a fantastic parade with floats that local people build. There is even a prize for the best float worth £100.
We encourage local people to take part and keep this local tradition alive as we celebrate the height of summer with this charming carnival. The carnival will take place on the 21st of June at starts at 11am. The celebrations will begin with a procession through the town starting at Caledfryn and leading to the main carnival arena on the lower park field. There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day including a fun fair with lots of rides for the kids to enjoy, stalls with food games and plenty of locally made crafts to browse. There will also be face painting, a petting zoo, musical entertainment, Morris dancing, wrestling, dancing, archery and tugs of war to name but a few of the great celebrations that will be part of the carnival.
Each year the carnival has taken place there has been an annual theme so for all those taking part in the best float competition your theme is children’s books. There will also be a prize for best fancy dress costume and you can even apply now to be voted the carnival king and queen.
It is fantastic to see this charming local event come back to Denbigh as a popular summer solstice celebration and a way to bring the community together in a festival of all the great things about Denbigh town. Remember entry for this event is completely free so you have no excuse not to pop by.
