The Destination Marathon will be racing through the streets of Chester on the 6th of October. Crowds of brave and devoted runners will brave the cool autumn air to race a fast marathon through the beautiful Chester architecture.
The MBNA marathon will begin at Chester racecourse at 9am. It will be a fast paced marathon and a real challenge for those taking part. Come and cheer them on as the money for entry goes to charity or enter to take part yourself!
The race will take the runners past all the most famous sites in Chester city and then out past the picturesque villages and town of Cheshire and then through to the landscape of North Wales. This race gives the runners views of the stunning structures of historical Chester and the rolling countryside of the Cheshire County. The gruelling race then loops back to end at Chester racecourse where it began.
It will be a fast marathon and a largely flat race route. This is a closed road race consisting of 19 miles in England and seven miles in Wales. The landmarks will be an enjoyable distraction for the competitors as they wind through the towns and villages and then return along the banks of the River Dee in this challenging race that takes place in beautiful scenery.
Most of the money will go towards Cancer Research UK but many more charities will be represented in this race too including the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and Claire’s House Children’s Hospice.
There will be a drinks stand every 2.5-3 miles for the runners and bottled water at all stations.
Entries for the marathon are open now but they will not be for much longer so if you want to be part of the race get your name down now! This will be a highly enjoyable race for spectators to enjoy the displays of endurance for charity.
