If you are looking for Christmas wonder and magic this December you will be in luck. Head to Chester for some of the best Christmas events in the region.
Chester as a main city of culture hosts a range of special events throughout the year. With Christmas less than a month away there is a variety of glamorous and glitzy Christmas events taking place in the city over the next few weeks.
One of the most popular annual events is the free Christmas market to be found outside Chester Town Hall near the cathedral. This event runs from 21st November until 21st December and there will be over 40 traditional wooden chalets to help with your Christmas gift shopping including clothing, jewellery, general giftware and crafts. There will be a number of stalls offering free samples so you can decide which will make the best gifts and others will be providing both hot and cold refreshments for you to enjoy while you browse the market. There will certainly be a delectable range of food in a variety of cuisines, some of which are made with locally sourced ingredients. Spirits, beers and hot drinks will also be available to keep out the cold. Many of the food and drink vendors offer small samples of their more unusual wares to help you choose your favourite flavour.
This year there will be the addition of a Lanson Champagne Bar to add sparkle and romance to your Christmas shopping.
This event’s proximity to Chester Cathedral offers an opportunity to visit this ancient but very active heart of the city. Perhaps providing another way to get into the Christmas spirit. The Chester Cathedral gift shop will be present at the Christmas market as well.
Do not forget the other major Christmas event, the Winter Wonderland, at the Chester racecourse. Take to the ice, if you dare.
