The National Waterways Museum Beer Festival returns to Ellesmere Port this October 2013!

If you love beer and ale this event is a superb treat not to be missed.

It will be the third beer festival held at the museum as the previous years were such a roaring success.

It is a three day long celebration of the best beers and ales around.

The Beer Festival will take place in Ellesmere Port in and around the National Waterways Museum from Friday the 11th of October to until Sunday the 13th of October.

This is a great way to warm up your autumn and chilly October with warmth and glee from a selection of marvellous, top quality beers.

Real ales will be selected for display at the event from the very best ale craft brewers around.

All brewers will have canal connections to show the important of the canal and brewing beer.

Music will be played throughout the festival so it should be very merry. If you are worried about getting home after sampling all the irresistible beers do not fret as Ellesmere Port and the museum sit on excellent transport links. The museum is only a short, few minutes’ walk from the train station and the way is well signposted.

The National Waterways Museum is a fascinating place in Ellesmere Port that everyone should explore. It is not just beer festivals that make it an excellent destination for a fantastic day out. At the museum there are many historic buildings and extensive displays of the history of the canal. You can even enjoy a boat trip along the canal.

There is a shop and cafe to visit as well as the interesting pump houses to admire. There are so many old buildings that echo of Ellesmere Port’s important history and how vital it was to the community. Ellesmere Port is a town that grew out of the wealth created by the canal.

Forges and stable building are still around the museum these days for you to explore and did you know canals are excellent places for wildlife spotting?

You will have seen many water birds including the beautiful and ethereal swans if you have walked along the canal before.
