Now that we are in February Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and that brings with it a whole host of fantastic events.
Ellesmere Port has brilliant events to entertain you all year round with excellent shopping and attractions that draw in tourists and residents alike. With a rich history and spectacular views across Mersey River there is always something to do.
The National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port is one of the most popular and historically interesting attractions in the town and they host a wide variety of fascinating events throughout the year. Set on the canal side the museum offers a fascinating window into the history of the British Waterways and how they influenced our economy. This February they do not disappoint with their wonderful Valentines Dance event.
Last year the museum hosted a highly popular wartime weekend and in the same spirit comes this charming Valentines Dance which will be set in the 1940s style.
There will be plenty of 1940s period style decorations in the Tom Rolt Conference Centre at the museum. The entertainment will include re-enactors, GI Jive will be providing the appropriate music for the time warp back to the 1940s and a ration book supper is available to purchase along with a licensed bar.
This event should appeal to both local residents who understand the significance of the waterways and Ellesmere Port canals to this time period in our history as well as 1940s enthusiasts from around the country.
This is definitely a romantic event for Valentine’s Day but with a fun historical twist for something a little bit different this year.
Enjoy wearing the appropriate period costume while doing all in the 1940s dances including the Waltz and the Foxtrot.
Tickets are available for only £6 so do not delay as Valentine’s Day is only a couple of weeks away.
