We really enjoy Snowdonia and the entirety of the North Wales region, and visit as often as we can. As such, this year’s figures showing that Domestic Tourism is on the rise isn’t all that surprising – at least not to us. Wales is a fabulous country to visit, and North Wales in particular has a slew of really fascinating history, myths and local legends abound, and enough high-quality hotels to feel that you’re really on holiday. Hotels in Llanrwst and the surrounding areas (Betws y Coed in particular) emanate a really great feeling about them, and are run on a basis reminiscent of B&Bs – ensuring that service is generally much better than what you’d expect from a mega-hotel complex abroad. Nothing seems too much trouble at these fantastic hotels – a world of difference from the regimented and impersonal service you get abroad.

As an example of excellent service, a fabulous location and top quality, The Meadowsweet Hotel is situated in the really pretty village of Llanrwst and is close enough proximity to attractions such as Zip World and Bounce Below to ensure that thrillseekers can certainly get their fix.

If you prefer a more laid-back and whimisical stay, Bodnant Gardens is less than half an hour away from this fantastic location. The gardens are wonderfully maintained and there’s so much to do there, it’s certainly not a one-day experience.

Perhaps you’d like a more traditional stay, involving climbing Snowdon, the highest peak in the UK south of Scotland! Yr Wyddfa stands tall over the neighbouring village of Llanberis, part of a close-knit family of jagged peaks and capable of offering marvellous views over the entirety of Snowdonia, as far as Anglesey, Pembrokeshire and Ireland. There are 6 different paths to choose from, ensuring that walkers of all fitness and all ability can conquer the highest point in Wales and England.

Perhaps mountains aren’t your thing and you just want to be beside the seaside? No problem. The Meadowsweet Hotel is less than an hour away from Llandudno – which has won TripAdvisor’s Best Seaside Resort of 2016 award. Enjoy a choice of two pristine beaches and all the delights you’d expect of the Welsh seaside – which is a league above other resorts.

The Meadowsweet Hotel is fantastically located in the heart of the Welsh Countryside and offers so much to see and do – a fantastic base for your Welsh adventure!
