LED Lighting such as LED Rope Lighting and LED Strip Lighting has made waves in very many industries since 2005, and very much seems part of a new way of life. It’s no different in North Wales – LED Lighting has been harnessed by Welsh farmers in order to grow crops bigger, better (and just as naturally, with no chemicals!) offices across North Wales also harness the power of LED Lighting in order to promote better working environments, and the retail industry has benefitted from LED Rope Lights and LED Strip Lights in order to create dazzling store lighting which is showing very real results with promoting buying and spending habits.
Terms such as “smart lighting” , “dimmable LED” and “carbon neutral lighting” aren’t just Tomorrowland-esque pipe dreams any longer, instead they are rather real and they are certainly here – viable truths for very many industries worldwide in a number of fields. Whether or not said industry is agriculture, retail, industry, construction or even residential, LED Lighting is changing lives the world over and opening up so many possibilities which just simply didn’t exist some years ago.
But what about the arts? North Wales is a region which is very richly associated with the arts, and that of course extends to the very talented photographers which make North Wales their home.
While indeed LED Lighting has been used in very many film projects, with LED Rope Lights and LED Strip Lighting proving extremely popular choices for a wide range of productions from very different backgrounds (from blockbuster hits such as Harry Potter to smaller films such as Hunt for the Wilderpeople – LED Lighting is absolutely integral to all films produced) the still image industry is also benefiting massively from the application of LED Lighting on shoots, sometimes even replacing strobe lighting entirely depending on shoot.
For photoshoots which emulate early 20th century – LED Lighting is perfect.
Old Hollywood photographers used cinema lighting, which featured bright lights, and very slow films and lenses due to technological restrictions at the time which meant that rapid shutter frames simply didn’t exist. This is very viewable in the photography of the time – static, stationary figures were commonplace, which is symptomatic of shutter issues and the limitations of that time.
But what exactly does this have to do with LED Lighting? With these issues, cinema lights were used directly and scrimmed because of slow films and slow lenses. This is a perfect situation for LED Lighting to emulate, and much, much cheaper and much more accessible than procuring some of these antiquated means of capturing image. Add that to LED Lightings main assets of sipping power, and fully dimmable nature, and you’ll find that you are more than capable of producing authentic looking shots which can fully encapsulate the glamour and feel of this bygone era.
