Lotus have been busy…

Revamping existing models, pushing limits to see where it can be taken next is lotus’ favourite hobby, and what they’ve come up with this time is a staggeringly fast machine.

Lotus love to play Dr. Frankenstein, mixing and matching different parts of their cars and seeing what monsters they can cook up. This time, they’ve extracted the 430bhp supercharged v6 from the awesome Evora GT430 and transplanted it into the lightweight Exige. The result – New Lotus Exige Cup 430. Its £100,000 of turbo fast supercar.

It’s stated that this new model will be able to whoosh the Exige from 0-62mph in 3.3 seconds, which is fairly bananas for a car with rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. An awe-inspiring open gate manual at that.

Once you’ve switched all possible parts for carbon fibre, then your Exige weighs a mere 1,056kg. This is incredible for a car sporting a Tour-ata v6, once meant for your grandad’s car. Lotus in North Wales has never been more extreme.

There’s an all-new set of Nitron three-way changeable dampers and Eibach adjustable sway bars. Four-piston AP Racing brake callipers assist in bringing everything to a stop, and quickly too.
Meanwhile, there’s a lot of downforce, more of the time. Top speed is 180mph, 35mph higher than the typical Exige S and 5mph quicker than the Exige Cup 380. The body has been reinvigorated in Cup 430 semblance, producing 220kg of downforce at high speed.

While the price tag might be a bit hefty for most of us, looking at those incredible specs at the cost, it could be considered a bit of a bargain, and comparing it with other cars which would feature similar perks and goodies, you aren’t likely to get another deal as good as this.

The Lotus Exige cup is the fastest production car to make it around lotus’ Hethel test track, with a lap time of 1:24.8. That’s 1.2 seconds faster than the previous record-holding lotus 3-Eleven.

We can imagine a Lotus in North Wales along those beautiful mountain roads absorbing those awesome views and shifting along those mountain roads.

“This car has no rivals – inside or outside of its price bracket – and it’s no exaggeration when we say that nothing can keep up with this Exige on the road or track.”
