architecture

What you are looking for and how much you are looking to spend will help you to determine the right architect for you. We have put together some things you need to consider when looking for an architect below.

Local vs Big City

It goes without saying that in larger cities the price will be hiked up a lot more than small local areas – this is due to their overheads and expertise. However, that doesn’t mean to say those in local areas aren’t up to scratch. Local areas have the upper hand when it comes to getting planning permission as they will know their local authorities regulations inside and out – so you can be confident of approval.

As well as that, as mentioned before, local architect Chester will also have a much more affordable rate compared to those in cities.

Communication

Communication is key when you are working on a project with someone. With a small knit local team you will find that they will be able to give you more personal support due to smaller workloads. Larger architect firms in the city will still be quick on their communication, but they are more likely to be formalised and even more professional.

By choosing a local firm you can be rest assured that they know everything about the local area, so you will be able to communicate with them on a more friendly  level if you prefer.

Experience

It is important that before you start any project, you make sure you have had a look at previous work and if you can, get some personal recommendations. Bear in mind when looking at previous work, those in the city will have flashier projects that could feel world’s away from what you want. This doesn’t mean to say they cannot help you.

It is easier when choosing to go for a local architect Chester as they will have more examples that are relevant to you.

What about online architects?

Approximately 5 years ago you had the choice of two types of architect, a local firm or something a bit more fancy. So, you could either take your project local for a reasonable price or you could splash your cash on a bigger fancier firm in one of the major cities around the country.

However, things are now changing with all new architects on the block – online architects. Online architects can bring the best of both by incorporating local and high-end prices as well as improved delivery.

Still not sure what to go for?

Enquire around to see if anyone has had previous experience with architects that you know.Or, if you see a building that you like, simply do a Google search or even knock to enquire about who they used and what their experience was. I’m sure they would be more than happy to help!
