We love the 90s, and while technology has come a long way since then, and the advent of fantastic things like Spotify replacing every mix tape we ever made, Amazon Video replacing Blockbuster and their notorious late fees, Google replacing… well, everything, and of course our grainy dial-up 56k being replaced with glorious fibre optic internet have made our lives so very much easier. (Being on the phone and the Internet at once for a start.) Saying that, there are a certain amount of things we miss. Be it Chupa Chups lollies, Pogs, or even some seriously cool cartoons, there’s a few things from the 90s we want reinstated. Take a gander, and see if you agree.
1 – The Tuck Shop
We loved the Tuck shop, and the days of spending 30p on school break and getting a fistful of delicious Chupa Chups Lollipops, a Lanky Larry and packs of cola Frosties for our money are (very sadly) totally gone. 2- Mood Rings
What a way to start a conversation. Black meant stressed. Green meant annoyed. Blueygreen meant relaxed. Blue meant happy. To this day, we’ve got no idea if it actually worked, but it certainly was a craze that lasted for years and years. Did you have one?
3 – Hair Mascara / Glitter Hairspray
We’re so glad this one’s gone. Who remembers applying this stuff to your hear and wondering if it would ever dry? Not to mention that it tended to dry in lumps that were agony to brush out. But our hair was blue! Until it rained!
4 – Gigantic Hooped Earrings
We’re not exactly sure what possessed us to wear hoops we could practically fit our arms through in our ears. Either way, Argos benefitted from practically every teenage girl in the UK heading to Elizabeth Duke in droves to buy all the hoops and sovereigns they had in the name of staying bang on trend.
5 – Adidas Tracksuits With Leg Stripes
We definitely blame Sporty Spice for this. Whether you were an Adidas or Puma King (with poppers!) kind of kid, if you were anything like us your closet consisted of these tracksuits in every single colour imaginable… and unimaginable. The 90s was a special time, the most special of all of it being that bright orange and neon green were perfectly acceptable colours to wear together… in shellsuit form.
