Take a Trip Back in Time…
You’re walking down a bustling Victorian high-street, a billow of steam shoots overhead from a classic Victorian steam car, meanwhile kids are eagerly lining up to go on a big ferris wheel and a jazz band can be heard over the sounds of the celebration’s ambiance.
Where could you be, you don’t remember setting foot in a time machine? Not to worry, it’s just the Llandudno Victorian Extravangaza!
The festival is now in it’s 32nd year and is an integral part of this historic town’s calendar. This year’s Victorian extravaganza will be a return to its former glory as It will feature much more Victorian style things. Last year there were complaints that the extravaganza had become too modern, with over 123 fairground plots and rides. Organisers have said that they have seen the light and are reducing the event’s modern fairground plots down to 57. This will mean more space for Victorian authenticity.
Expect to see tonnes of Victorian engines parading down the highstreets, people strolling down the road in traditional Victorian attire.
Carnival games and puppet shows, big brass bands, duck ponds, coconut shys and shooting competitions are available to play whilst at this awesome event.
So, with the fun-fair, steam powered engines, traditional organs, a daily grand parade, an assortment of bands, entertainment and a wide-open area which features all of Llandudno’s local businesses and establishments an ideal and all-inclusive environment.
16 Trinity Square will be host to the Victorian Schoolroom which is going to give students an idea of what school life was like all that time ago – and make them thankful that they only must go to school in modern times!
Llandudno is supremely placed for such an event, as it is home to scores of local restaurants, pubs and cafés these are a perfect opportunity to sample the local characteristic charm of the seaside resort town. Pop over to Llandudno and enjoy the awesome event of Victorian themed carnival celebrations. The event will be taking place across 3 days of fun and amusements.
This year the event is taking place from 5th – 7th of May, each day the festivities kick off at 10.00 and continue through to 17.00.
There will also be a sister event, taking place on Bodafon fields there will be the Llandudno transport festival in which there is a fee which is charged for to go hand in hand with the fee-free event in the town centre, however this is a fantastic event in itself and is absolutely worth the visit.
