Entries for the Snowdon Race – sponsored by Tyn Lon Volvo International  have closed in record time, after 600 places were snapped up in a record time of four days. The race is an annual event that is now in its 38th year and is considered as one of the best in the world of mountain running and attracts some of the biggest fell running names in Europe.

After one of the best races ever last year, where Scotland’s Murray Strain took first place in what was a famous victory  the anticipation for 2013’s event is as high as ever, with organisers being forced to halt entries into the race after just four days.

Race Organiser Stephen Edwards said “Once again we have been overwhelmed with the support and demand for this race. Little could the organisers of that inaugural race in 1976 have realised what this event would become some 37 years later.

“To be honest we could take thousands of entries for this event, but the mountain and infrastructure just couldn’t cope on a busy summer’s day in July. Snowdon is now recognized as the UK’s busiest mountain and that is part of the attraction for those runners who get that ‘Tour de France feeling’ as they ascend the crowds of people cheering on the slopes come race day”.

The Snowdon Race 2013 is a fantastic – but grueling race that takes place on Saturday July 20th, 2013.  Everyone is welcome to go along and watch. For those who want to enter, and have not already confirmed their entry, unfortunately you will just have to watch and keep tuned for entry to next years event!
