Caernarfon is one town in North Wales which has remained relatively untouched by the modern world, yet still remains the contemporary twists which make it so attractive. It’s one of the most historically significant areas in the whole of Wales and for good reason as the current Prince of Wales had his investiture held at the legendary Caernarfon Castle.
Picturesquely situated on the south end of the Menai Straits, about 9 miles from Bangor, and on the mouth of the river Seiont, Caernarfon is famed for its great castle, rivalled only by that of Alnwick in Northumberland.
Nearby towns to Caernarfon include Bangor: the smallest city in Wales that has big appeal when it comes to young adults as the university is of the highest standard. The Isle of Anglesey is only a short drive away as well as there being many charming villages located in close proximity to take your fancy.
You can reach Caernarfon via many of the main roads of North Wales and is also a short distance away from the Isle of Anglesey if you’re arriving from abroad via the Port of Holyhead.
