People in Wales are typically very proud of their heritage, and their traditional public holidays are always well-celebrated with a whole host of festivities and merriment. The start of next month marks one of the most important in the Welsh calendar, St David’s Day.
St David’s Day falls on March 1st each year, and as you might have guessed, is in recognition of the patron saint of Wales, St David. In the 18th century, this day was declared as an official national day of celebration in Wales.
Patriotic residents of Wales celebrate this day in a number of different ways. Some sit down and enjoy a hearty and traditional Welsh feast, whilst others take part in parades, festivals and eisteddfods.
Here in North Wales, restaurants in Snowdonia and the surrounding areas celebrate the event by offering a special menu for the occasion. This year, the lovely people at The Groes Inn are embracing this much celebrated event with a very special menu of their own.
If you’ll be visiting The Groes Inn on Wednesday, March 1st, you can enjoy a special St David’s Day meal which will feature a selection of traditional Welsh delicacies. The Groes Inn has a fantastic variety of wines and ales to choose from, many of which are local – including their very own ale!
The Groes Inn is situated close to the Snowdonia National Park, and is an independent hotel and restaurant which boasts fantastic views of the local area, especially of the sweeping Conwy Estuary.
Their restaurant features a very delicious and award winning menu, with fresh ingredients that have been sourced as locally as possible to ensure you receive the best dining experience possible.
There are various dining rooms within the restaurant. For a relaxed and informal lunch visit, the bar, with its roaring fire and traditional inn style décor is perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy good company with delicious food. You’ll also find a dining room within for more formal dinner events.
Whether you’re a local or a visitor wanting to experience a little taste of Welsh culture, pop over to the Groes Inn next month to enjoy a hearty meal that’s sure to impress.
